A surfeit of news from Chapel Hill! After a round of auditions, it looks like I'm going to be in five plays in two months! The first is Happy New Years from Hell, five short plays from the Grand-Guignol theater tradition of Paris (think macabre, black humor), put on by my friends in the Delta Boys Theatre Company. I'm in three of them, playing a nurse, a leper and a promiscuous wife. Those'll be put on January 3rd and 4th. Second is Sweeney Todd, a famous musical by Stephen Sondheim, directed by none other than last year's Vagina Monologues director, the fabulous Lori Mannette. I'm in the chorus, and I'm also playing the creepy asylum director. That's going to run from January 25th to February 3rd. And finally, there is THIS year's production of The Vagina Monologues! This time I get to play a transsexual, giving the monologue "They Beat the Girl Out of my Boy (or so They Tried)." I believe those performances are February 15th and 16th.
Well, the next two months are certainly going to be an exercise in time management. But more importantly, I am so happy to see my garden grow! All this stuff is the result of seeds I planted last year, when my life felt very barren. So, blessings abound and abound. Praise be!
