Today I drove up the Waimea Canyon, which felt like several worlds stacked upon each other in levels, like Robert Silverberg's Kingdoms of the Wall. I drove higher and higher on this misty mountain road, and saw things that struck me as very strange: a geophysics laboratory. A neat assemblage of hunting lodges, each with a name. A Boy Scout camp. In other words, ascending realms of being. A day of strange travel that now, in memory, has the truth of a dream.
Pictures are here.
thanks for the church, monie love! and for pix that included your smile, your feet. you did a great job giving a sense of the space ... of the impossibility of capturing less than that ... xxx

Those slope-and-cliff shots ... yes, *shudder* ... I especially liked the chocolate-brown river sand. Where you off to today? xoxoMMB
