Hello everyone! The blog has been silent for awhile, because I moved at the end of September and have been getting resettled ever since. Leaving that apartment was a bittersweet yet beautiful affair - bittersweet because it was my home through several hard months, and beautiful because it was my home through many wonderful more. Above is a self-portrait from January 1st, 2007, 1:00am.
Dad, Donald and Nicole arrived to help me move out. We ran a very tight ship - it helped that I'd color-coded all of my boxes; I love Organization - and accomplished all the moving in good time, in lovely cool wet weather that somehow managed to not turn into rain. Here is that same nook, devoid of furniture:
...after we had moved into my new place(s) - a third of my stuff each at Casa Rajendran, Melleray and Lakeside Storage - I returned to my empty apartment to clean. It was a very sweet, precious few hours. I swept, vacuumed, cleaned, picked, wiped, and scrubbed. I played my favorite music very loud - I swear the universe speaks through my iPod, because the first song that came up on random was "Mary Don't You Weep." By the time I was done, there was a lovely rain falling...
...and I lingered there a long time, because even though the apartment was empty, I felt at home. I walked through each of the rooms, thanking their spirits for the shelter and comfort they'd given me.
And the last song that arrived to send me off? None other than "Freebird."
;)
