Monica is spending several weeks at Vijnana Kala Vedi, a school for traditional Indian arts in Kerala, founded by a French artist in 1976. She writes: The institute is spread out among ten buildings along the main road that runs through the village of Aranmula. My room is in the main house--a big room with two twin beds, one of them covered with pink-and-purple mosquito netting. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to wake up early to check out the 7:30 communal yoga class, then breakfast, then Malayalam [language] class, then lunch, then Ayurveda class, then tea-time, then communal martial arts class, then dinner. Above is a pic from a VKV Ayurveda class, and you can see more here. In Aranmula, the East-West flow goes both ways: Me and six other girls actually did watch the beginning of the Oscars...Hugh Jackman's opening was so...amazing...and weird...I just had my mouth open in consternation the entire time. There was excitement over the success of "Slumdog Millionaire," and, dress-fiend-for-life, Monica nominated Anne Hathaway and Viola Davis for "Top Oscar Gowns."
OH WOW, WISH I WERE THERE!!!
WHAT A WONDERFUL LOOKING PLACE.
LOVE
FRANCIE
