On July 27, after several days of laborious waiting and whiplash action, Lakaisha Nicole & Don 3 welcomed their new baby boy and first child, as family & friends on both sides cheered and cried. He is healthy, and so is Lakaisha. The new threesome stayed at the University of North Carolina hospital for a spell of rest, then went home to Bear Creek on August 1. Snapshots: The baby is giving the first-time mom & dad a break, sleeping up to five hours a night already. He still has what Don calls his "wolfman suit"--hair in the womb not yet sloughed off. He has such fancy delivery-service cloth diapers that, Kaisha says, you barely want to put any rubber pants over that pristine white cotton. But sadly, for the sake of the laps of grownups overcome by cuteness, you must...;-). The new parents send a big Thank You to all who helped in the Birthing Days, from Sister Monica & Mother Janie on site, to Compadre Paul & Comadre Leta who shared their air-conditioned place to sleep, and everyone else who sent gifts, cards, and prayers, then and since. We all feel such jubilation that saints of heaven & earth conspired to bring a luscious little one into our midst! It is indeed a blessed event, a blessing event. See more pictures here--and stay tuned for a post on the child's NAME, as yet to be revealed!--JEB
